Botox® is used to block nerve impulses leading to tiny facial muscles, thus relaxing the muscles so they do not contract. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled, while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion. Tiny amounts of Botox® injected precisely and safely into locations on the face results in the smoothing of lines and creases, and eliminates the tired, unhappy or fatigued look caused by the over-contracting of muscles. Many people are concerned that Botox® will produce a "plastic" or unnatural look, but the opposite is true.
