About Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic, autoimmune disease that appears on the skin. It occurs when the immune system sends out faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle of skin cells. Psoriasis is not contagious. People affected by psoriasis are at an elevated risk for cardiovascular disease, Crohn’s disease and other inflammatory diseases. People with psoriasis often face discrimination and embarrassment because others mistakenly fear the condition is contagious. As many as 7.5 million Americans have psoriasis for which there is no cure.

The National Psoriasis Foundation’s mission is to find a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and eliminate their devastating effects through research, advocacy and education. About Walk to Cure Psoriasis

Walk to Cure Psoriasis is a program of/consists of/is a series of family-friendly, non-competitive 1k or 5k walks sponsored in more than 20 cities across the country. Since its inception in 2007, Walk to Cure Psoriasis has attracted more than 15,000 walkers and volunteers, and has raised more than $4 million for Foundation research, education and advocacy programs. As public understanding of psoriasis continues to build, Walk to Cure Psoriasis is empowering people with the disease to speak out. When companies participate in the Walk to Cure Psoriasis, they join other corporate champions in the growing movement to find a cure for this disease.
