Sensitive skin

Sensitive skin is the common term for skin that becomes easily irritated or easily develops allergic reactions.  Patients with sensitive skin often develop rashes with common cleansers, lotions and cosmetics, experiencing stinging, burning or itching.  Long term responses include thickening and darkening of the skin that can be very unsightly.  

BDA physicians listen to the history of the skin problem and then examine the skin to determine whether the sensitivity is due to eczema/atopic dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, rosacea  or other medical problem.  They will provide advice on over the counter and prescription products to make patients more comfortable.
